Modern computer technology facilitates computationally intensive research and research-oriented teaching at the GIScience Group.
High Performance Computer
The complex environmental simulation models and modern machine-learning techniques used at the GIScience Group are computationally very intensive. The Group therefore owns a high-performance computing facility that can be accessed by students, staff and external partners through a Web interface.
Web Servers
The Group's Web servers host a variety of online services and platforms including project websites, communication platforms (e.g,. blogs, discussion forums) and Web-based information systems (e.g., River Basin Information System). Several data servers are available for storage and exchange of large databases (e.g., climate data) within ongoing research projects.
