LUCCi

Land Use and Climate Change Interactions in Central Vietnam

Description:

The LUCCi project aims at providing a scientific basis for land use and water resources management strategies in the Vu Gia Thu Bon river basin in Central Vietnam by applying interdisciplinary research methods considering both natural and social science approaches. A major concern of future land use strategies is to balance the requirements of the local communities directly depending on natural resources with the demand of the international community to increase greenhouse gas mitigation efforts. LUCCi will therefore develop strategies for sustainable Land Management, including three main phase: research (development of a data base with climate, water and land use data), integration (model scenarios for different land use management strategies and development of an integrative land management strategy) and implementation (implementation by e.g. elaborating recommendations for further agricultural and environmental policies, and systematic transfer to other watersheds).
